Location | Browns Gap area, Rockingham County, Virginia. In Harrisonburg, from the intersection of Route 11 (South Main Street) and Route 659 (Port Republic Road), turn left (east) onto Route 659 and go 12.1 miles on Route 659. Cross over Route 340 (East Side Hwy) and stay on Route 659. Go 3/10 mile and cemetery is on the right side of the road. |
Notes | Cemetery is well maintained with a concrete brick wall around it. A plaque marks the Mace Cemetery and notes, Heirs of Henry Mace. Many unmarked graves and some marked with rocks. In 1960s the D.A.R. records indicated that; there are many Civil War Soldiers buried here in unmarked graves. The Mace home was said to have been used as a hospital. |
