Rockingham County Virginia Tombstones by Cemetery

CemeteryPeaked Mountain Church Cemetery
LocationMcGaheysville, Rockingham County, Virginia. From Courthouse in Harrisonburg, Virginia, take Route 33 East. Go 7.9 miles and turn right onto Route 996 (McGaheysville Road). Go 2.7 miles and cemetery is on the left side of the road next to and behind Brown Memorial United Church of Christ.
NotesThe cemetery is well maintained. The cemetery area is large and there are many small stones and possibly many unmarked graves. Numerous stones are in German script. John W. Wayland wrote on April 8, 1931; "Old graveyard at McGaheysville, Rockingham County, Va., on the N.W. side of the main road, around the old Lutheran (formerly Lutheran and German Reformed) Church." Today you will find the Brown Memorial UCC near the cemetery.
