Location | Fulks Run area, Rockingham County, Virginia. Take Route 259 to Fulks Run Grocery Store and turn left onto Route 612 (Hopkins Gap Road). Go approximately 7 miles to where you cross the Shoemaker River and park by the bridge. Walk 300 yards south on Route 612, then walk west 300 yards through the woods and cemetery is along the bank of the Shoemaker River. |
Notes | Cemetery is not maintained and without fence. River rocks can be seen marking numerous graves. In 1967 J. Robert Swank wrote, "Located on the west side of Road 612 about 1/2 mile south of Owen Phillips home. On the east side of the old road. There were perhaps as many as 40 graves." On September 1, 2004, Garland & Ora Hoover of Lakeland, Florida, erected new stones honoring their ancestors. |
