CemeteryDovel-Stephens Family Cemetery
LocationMelrose area, Rockingham County, Virginia. Cemetery was located off of Route 11 north, on the west side, less than one mile south of Melrose Church of the Brethren.
NotesNotes taken from the D.A.R. recording: This cemetery was moved in 1940 from "Stonewall Cottage", the Woolf-Dovel-Stevens home from 1783 to 1938, to the Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg, Virginia. On the removal to Woodbine, the original marble tombstones were replaced by new granite monuments. Laura Belle Stephens and Sallie Georgiana Stephens, the two last remaining members of the family, had been interred in Woodbine Cemetery, prior to the removal from the family cemetery on Route 11.
